I have this coffee table book that I read, oh, pretty much always, that has 347 engravings from Harper’s Weekly from 19th century New York City. It’s pretty amazing to see New York’s history through these types of images. This above picture happens to be in the coffee table book, which, by the way, is called “New York in the 19th Century” (John Grafton).
Here are two that I thought were interesting:
The first New York Times building stands in the middle of this engraving of an Abraham Lincoln 1860 electoral procession.
