Inside Spain’s largest cathedral (in Sevilla) resides the remains of Christopher Columbus (picture 2). The Sevilla Cathedral is the largest gothic church and third largest in the world. Not surprising, the church was built over the remains of the Almohad Mosque, which the Christians razed. When building the Sevilla Cathedral in the 16th century, they left the mosques Court of the Oranges, the Gate of Pardon and the minaret Giralda, which was turned into a bell tower that, according to a woman who was up there with us, “has so many bells!”
